Last month, we welcomed 12 neighbours to our training centre campus in Batzul, Chajul to take part in an organic agriculture workshop and learn about composting and the milpa indigenous system of sowing corn, bean and squash seeds together.

Families and friends came from 7 remote communities across the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes to celebrate the achievement of their mothers, sisters, aunts and daughters, alongside the Minister of Energy and representatives from the Ministry, INDE and the World Food Programme.

For many of the 11 participants of our 2025 Solar Programme, it is the first time they have left their families and communities. They will live, study and learn at our Batzul regional training centre over the next 10 weeks, learning to assemble, install, repair and maintain solar home lighting systems.
